Elkin sits in the Yadkin Valley region of northwestern North Carolina, in the southwest corner of Surry County along the Yadkin River and Big Elkin Creek. Stone Mountain State Park and Pilot Mountain State Park sit on either side, and the Blue Ridge Parkway is 20 minutes away.

Yadkin Valley Heritage & Trails Center
257 Standard Street, one block south of Main Street. Home to the Yadkin Valley Chamber of Commerce offices, restrooms and showers for Mountains-to-Sea Trail hikers, brochures, and National Park Service Overmountain Victory Trail displays, plus free EV charging.
